However, when it comes to press releases, not everything you put in writing will necessarily end up published. To avoid having an unpublished press release on your hands, read and follow the four (4) tips given below.

Write an Interesting Press Release

If you want your press release to be published, you must ensure that it is actually worthy of getting printed. Remember that all publishers will have their own criteria of what they think is ‘news worthy’ so you may have to carry out considerable amounts of research. This is why it is recommended that you keep the press release serious yet interesting and intriguing for the reader.

If you are confused about the topic that you should write about, you should know that there are several aspects of your business that you can build a story around. For instance, even If you don’t have a new product, you can always write about current events and happenings surrounding your business.

If at any point you feel that you’re unable to write the press release on your own, you can always get professional help from a copywriter. A skilled writer will also come up with ideas so that you can publish a piece that garners the most attention.

Use the Right Publisher

One of the most important factors in ensuring the success of your press release and ability to reach a wider customer base is finding the right service, website or newspaper to publish it through. The “right” publisher in this case is one that will appreciate what the news you’re about to publish and be happy to submit the press release on your behalf. However, keep in mind that finding the right publication may take some time, so don’t lose hope and continue looking for the best.

Be Brief

When writing a press release, you should always remember to be brief. Unlike articles or other writing materials, press releases don’t come with blocks of text, so you have to keep it short and sweet. Bear in mind that as long as the press release has the six elements of what, why, where, when, who and how, it will be complete and ready to publish.

Be Sure to Check for Mistakes

As with any other piece of writing, you have to make sure that the press release is free of any errors or mistakes. Check, re-check and check again for grammatical, spelling, punctuation and case mistake. Keep in mind that if publishers are able to detect any small grammatical or spelling errors, your press release will be frowned upon and your news will not be trusted. So, let at least 2-3 people check the document for language mistakes as writers are often not able to detect their own mistakes.
